Comments: 70s and 80s excess meets this decades more raunchy and palatable new era of rock. Starwood the brainchild of Lizzy reaches back to 70s icons like Cheap Trick, The New York Dolls, and KISS and twist their pop metal journeys into the familiar mold of new rockers such as Brides of Destruction, The Darkness, Velvet Revolver, and The Vines.
Starwood features vocalist and guitarist Lizzy, drummer Joey Scott, bassist Marten Andersson and guitarist Joe Steals. The band derived their name from the now defunct 70’s rock club in Hollywood, Starwood, where rock, metal, pop, punk and everything in-between found a home to be heard during that era in time. The band’s primary goal is to “emulate that feeling with the songs on their debut record,” amply titled “If It Ain’t Broke, Break It!”
The bands focus is to not relive the past but push forward with their own brand of rock n’ roll, deriving influences from rock, punk and metal. Starwood began recording “If It Ain’t Broke, Break It!,” December of 2003 and wrapped up recording and mastering April of 2004. The CD is a 9 track affair and There is most certainly energy and fire radiating from the band that might be unequaled in today’s main stream music scene. You can also definitely recall the glory days of excessive pop metal influenced music. this CD rocks! so join the cause and help return guitar oriented rock to the airwaves! Pickup a copy today, my friends.
